Lois and the Lantern
Lois and the Lantern
Lois and the Lantern formed in 2014. Based in Fort Collins, CO, Lois delivers sublime vocal harmonies, engaging story-driven lyrics, and dynamic string band instrumentation.
The band was originally the brain-child of members Mary Merritt and Theresa Brodzinski. Mary provides the driving punk-influenced mandolin riffs that are the foundation of the Lois sound. Theresa brings honest and entertaining lyrics via her songwriting, and lays down the guitar parts on most songs. Featured in the band is singer/songwriter Saja Butler owner and instructor at Urban Monk Studios (also located in Fort Collins). Saja delivers her accomplished banjo picking and stunning vocals to the group. And Tara Lynne Sparks completes the band with the percussive bass-playing that adds that bottom sonic layer of funk to the mix.
Lois and the Lantern is currently recording their debut album, due late 2015. They continue to write, record, and perform within the Northern Colorado music scene.
