Verses The Inevitable, Mad Dog Blues at The Walnut Room

Verses The Inevitable is a neo-soul americana band out of Denver, Colorado originally formed in June of 2015 by Daniel Hertel. Verses The Inevitable features a blending of musical genres including rock, blues, neo-soul, americana, jazz, and funk. The band recently released it’s sophomore album Grit & Grace on May 5th, 2018. Grit & Grace truly captures the evolution of the bands sound and pairs a deep dynamic musical range with touching lyrical stylings. Ben Weise from the Denver Westword states, “Grit & Grace is a nine-track record comprising jazzy Americana soul that occasionally evokes the dogged feel of a speakeasy one minute and a blend of familiar folk-country harmonies the next. Highlights such as “Hard Times” and “Morgan County Blues” demonstrate both the band’s artistic range and Hertel’s knack for gritty storytelling… the band has grown into something bigger than just a single artistic vision; the results are a layered, full, diverse and dynamic sound.” The band members include Daniel Hertel (Vocals/Guitar), Mad Dog Friedman (Harmonica), Alex Tyler (Lead Guitar), Matt Certosimo (Bass), Logan Firth (Drums), Will Snyder (Keys), and Madalynn Rose (Vocals). The band’s first studio album All Debts Paid was the Mile High Blues Society Nominee for Best Self Produced Album of The Year in 2016 and was sent to Memphis, Tennessee to compete in the category against albums from around the world. Verses The Inevitable is truly carving out its own genre, and is becoming a significant force in the Denver music scene. Grit & Grace is a step above their first record and time will tell where it sits among the 2018 top albums in Colorado.

Mad Dog Friedman, harmonica player, musical innovator and founder of many popular Colorado blues acts over the years including King Comfort, Harmonica Loowinski, Papa Juke, the Mojo Medicine Show & Blue Lightning, has put together an acoustic blues jam band with a unique blues style indigenous to Colorado in the 21st Century while still honoring the blues roots. We call this music Colorado Country Blues because it combines the “Colorado Sound” (jam grass) with traditional rural blues. The result is Mad Dog Blues, a coalition of top-notch, veteran musicians dedicated to exploring this new sound in both their song writing and performances. Along with Mad Dog Friedman on harmonica, the Mad Dog Blues Experience (5 piece band) includes Jeff Becker (Hippie Buckaroos) on mandolin, Clark Chanslor (White Water Ramble) on stand-up bass, Sean Bennight (from St. Louis) on acoustic guitar and Mark Kaczorowski (Blues on the Lamb) on acoustic guitar. We hope you enjoy our original “Colorado Country Blues” sound, a unique fusion of delta blues, bluegrass, honky-tonk, hokum and acoustic jam music.
