Specific Ocean has been recording and performing in Denver, CO for just over a year now. Comprised of Greyson Elkins, Camilla Vaitaitis, Alec Wenzel, Hudson Knott ,and Clayton Vye, the band met at University of Denver’s Lamont School Music while studying there. The group materialized with the express intent of writing and recording original music. Specific Ocean wasted no time using all of the tools at its disposal to jump into composition, recording and performance; with each member coming from drastically different sets of influences and backgrounds, this process has had a diverse yield, and continues to push the band into new sonic spaces. They recorded and released their first single “Ride/Over & Over” in Lamont School of Music Studios, all while cutting their live-teeth in the intimate DIY scene around the university. Since then Specific Ocean has moved into their home studio and released their second single “San Andreas/Strangers,” recorded in their basement, and can be found maintaining a presence in the Denver music scene performing in local venues. In their spare time you’ll find Specific Ocean at their home in South Denver cooking overly elaborate meals, building a record collection in case there’s ever need for collateral in this fiscally-doubtful industry, and spending a perfect amount of time sitting on the porch.
