The Down Unit

Their high energy sound is a coalescence of influences ranging from 70’s funk, fusion and soul to modern Jazz, electronic and Hip Hop sources. With a rhythm section comprised of guitar/guitar synth, vintage keyboards, bass, drums and a recently incorporated, tightly arranged, three-piece horn section, The Down Unit is capable of varied textures with a common goal in mind: groove. The Down Unit’s compositions reveal a soulful melodicism and a harmonic sophistication that is rarely found on today’s scene.
