Pineross

Kevin Larkin is Pineross – it is the moniker for his experimental recordings and occasional performances as a one-man band. After 5 years touring with Mississippi’s Mayhem String Band on mandolin, accordion and harmonica Larkin began tracking for Pineross’ second album, Detached, splitting time between Colorado and Mississippi. The album has an experimental feel, exploring and combining numerous different influences into the acoustic foundation; soul sampling, latin percussion, drum programming, vintage synths, and flowing lyrics. Along with playing most of the instruments on the record, Larkin recruited some of the best samba and string player in the country. The album was independently released in November of 2011 and was described by a friend as “the music that a hip-hop inspired Brazilian band would write after playing a year long residency at an old West saloon in Mississippi.”
Kevin recently re-located to Denver, Colorado to form Chimney Choir with David Rynhart (guitar, piano, flute, vocal) and Kris Drickey (vocal, banjo, guitar, percussion). The trio released their debut EP in May of 2011 and have been touring since. Kevin’s solo performances are a true one-man band: perched atop an old Samsonite suitcase strumming guitar, mandolin, harmonica and kazoo.
