Sydney Grohne is a Boulder, Colorado native. She plays both fiddle and guitar in the Texas Style/Swing tradition. Sydney plays rhythm guitar on a 1962 Epiphone Texan. Following her fiddling roots, she lived in Austin, Texas for three years. Studying with fiddle greats such as Wes Wesmoreland, Jimmie Don Bates and Ricky Turpin. She has competed on fiddle and back-up guitar in Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado and throughout Texas. Returning to Colorado, Sydney is playing fiddle music, Western Swing and jazz/swing at venues around the Denver Metro area. Katie Glassman is a Denver, Colorado native. Starting Texas Style fiddle at the age of 9, Katie’s musical journey has lead her to study classical, jazz and fiddle music. She was the 1998 National Junior Fiddle Champion and the 2001 National Young Adult Fiddle Champion. Receiving a performance degree from the University of Colorado, Katie followed her jazz studies to France and studied with jazz great Didier Lockwood. Katie has had the honor to learn from Matthew Hartz, Wes Wesmoreland, Jimmie Don Bates and jazz pianist Chip Stephens. Returning to Denver, Katie now performs regularly with Gypsy group Impromptu, Charlie Provenza and now the all famous Pickin’ on the Porch!
