Immediately recognizable by his daring and soulful vocals, unconventional singer/songwriter Kurt Reifler has developed a sound that is singular. His emotion is clear. His delivery is raw and unapologetic.

During the summer of 2002, after telling only immediate family members and close friends, Kurt abruptly left his life in Washington, DC for an unplanned European tour. Carrying with him only an acoustic guitar and a duffle bag, Kurt spent nearly a year traveling the United Kingdom, Eastern Europe, and Italy, boarding in hostels, and playing informal pub gigs to earn free drinks and spending money.

Upon his return to the United States, Kurt continued honing his skills as a performer. After relocating to New York City during the fall of 2004, Kurt performed for one year as the frontman for Sexred, a four piece rock/funk band founded by himself and James Harvey Band guitarist Eddie Peters. Sexred’s success heralded them as a regular pick in the Village Voice and New York Press.

By playing as a session musician and frequenting downtown open mics with original material for the past year, Kurt has developed himself as a solo act and established himself as a legitimate artist in the New York music scene. By blending hook based music with ambient textures, Kurt has captured the attention of pop fans as well as seasoned music listeners.

Kurt was signed to Red Glare Records in the spring of 2006. His self-titled debut album, “Kurt Reifler”, will be released in January of 2007, followed by a national tour featuring both solo acoustic and full-band performances soon after. Tour dates and venues will be posted soon.
