Justine Bennett

Justine has been singing for as long as she can remember, with her first on stage performance at the age of 5. Growing up in a musical household (her mother was the piano teacher in town), allowed her to explore music constantly. Choir concerts, small town coffee houses and playing in a traveling ukulele band are among the many of Justine’s performances as a child.
Justine was born and raised the small town of Silverton, British Columbia, Canada. “Growing up in a town of 200 people was an incredible experience that shaped me as a person. One of the things that really stood out was the fact that every person that lived there seemed to have their specific talent or role. I figured out that my role was to be the singer, I sang my heart out every chance I got”.
Her influences and inspiration come from a wide variety of artists such as Joni Mitchell, Alana Davis, Emmylou Harris, Ray Lamontagne, Fionna Apple, Tracy Chapman and most of all singer songwriter Sarah Mclachlan. Sarah was the babysitter of one Justine’s close childhood friends. “Ill never forget the night I met Sarah. I was 11 and awkward and unsure and she was eloquent and confident yet so humble. She was living, doing the one thing that I always dreamed of doing. This was before she became famous and before CD’s were even invented, so she gave me her cassette tape. I played that tape over and over again. I love everything about her music, she’s an amazing artist and has been such an inspiration to me throughout my life”. Shades of Sarah’s music can be heard in Justine’s musical style.
