Havilah

Austin, Texas rejoiced a few years ago when singer-songwriter Havilah decided to leave the backpacking life behind and departed Europe for the live music capital of the world. Havilah’s music has been embraced by the Austin singer songwriter community, as her style has been compared to that of Norah Jones, Nina Simone, and Joni Mitchell (note: Joni Mitchell’s singer-songwriter period, not her abstract painting period). Havilah has established herself as an engaging live performer, whether it be solo or with a band. A well-seasoned and skilled songwriter in her own right, Havilah has shared the stage with many other notables in her genre including Stacey Earle, Eric McKeown, Kris Delmhorst, Steve Poltz, Pamela Means, Jess Klein and Susan Gibson
Havilah’s 2010 release, “Bengalese Butterflies,” is the next step toward dominating the Austin singer-songwriter scene and beyond. Songs like “Ben” and “Low Down” will cause thoughtful foot-tapping at every listen, and “All Night” is a stunning track that is featured in the upcoming film “Leading Ladies.” The genuine glow her voice and words bring into a room is matched by few; her live show and “Bengalese Butterflies” make her one of the essentials in her genre.
