The full was recorded at Summit Road Studios in Parker Colorado. The album is finished and is set for an early spring 2011 release date.
The American Campus Project is a modern blend of southern rock, country and gospel. We were really going for the typical formula of modern pop song writing, lots of catchy hooks and easy singing lyrics. Jacob Seal is featured on almost every track with smooth guitar licks, rich tones and guitar solos that will make your hair stand on end. There is a collage of drummers on this album featuring, Allen Lemke from Richie Furay’s band, former Nashville studio session drummer Colby Pitts, Former DDC drummer Tyler Wielgosz, and Dave Sonner, The bass tracks feature up and coming bassist Reese Martin from Cheney Washington, local front man Jared Phifer from All at Risk, and Dave Sonner. These songs are tracks you will want to listen to over and over again.
Dave has been involved with missions in Rustenburg South Africa for the past year and a half, his mission behind this record is to be able to generate funding to help aid missionary Lincoln Smith in Rustenburg. Dave strongly supports what Lincoln is doing there and visits every year for two weeks to check out what is going on and try to be involved. The record will be released with a track called “Lerato” featuring Jenny Messer on harmonica, this track was written by the whole team who visited South Africa the first time Dave went and proceeds from the sale of this track will go directly to Lincoln to help him start a local business in Rustenburg.
