Citrus is the musical alias of Gabriel Melchor, a DJ and producer hailing from Denver, CO, with a diverse range of styles encompassing everything from ambient downtempo to glitch hop.

Citrus has been a pioneering force in Colorado’s electronic music scene since 2004, when he started pushing a sound focused on glitched-out breaks and heavy bass. As he honed in on his style, the founders of the Denver Bass Squad took note, asking him to join the crew around its inception in 2007.

Recently, Citrus has been carrying on his tradition of pushing the envelope and working to evolve dance music culture, teaming up with 5 other local DJs and producers to form the renegade mobile sound system known as the Whomp Truck. The Whomp Truck was a dairy delivery truck in its past life, now converted into a mobile DJ booth with a dedicated sound system. Upgrades to the truck include sound-absorbing wall panels, a dedicated sound system and amp/processing rack, as well as a custom-fabricated DJ booth complete with power strips and an RCA patch panel for easy interfacing with the DJ equipment.

So far, he has been privileged to share the stage with acts like MartyParty, Kraddy, Ginz, Jantsen, MiMoSA, Bil Bless, Subvert, and of course fellow DBS members Samples and S.P.E.C.T.R.E. With no plans on slowing down in either DJing or production, you can expect to hear more Citrus on a sound system near you.
