The Walnut Room opened in January 2005.  Since then it has grown into a locals favorite. Come in and check out our great daily food and drink specials any day of the week.  There is no other option for thin crust pizza, made to order gourmet sandwiches and a friendly fun atmosphere.  Dine-in, Take-out and Delivery.

We have two convenient locations to choose from… The original on Walnut Street and our newest location on Broadway.

John Burr

The Walnut Room

John launched The Walnut Room in Denver’s River North neighborhood in 2005, envisioning a gathering place where he could showcase local musicians and the thin-crust, St. Louis-style pizza he grew up enjoying in the Chicago suburbs. Since then, the business has grown to include a second location on South Broadway, featuring live music and the same fresh, made-to-order food as its predecessor.

Burr arrived in Denver in 1990 and pursued his musical aspirations by playing drums in a local band. In 1992, he established Soundstructure Studios, a top-notch rehearsal space featuring ten studios and two apartments. Burr expanded the studios in 2003, adding five more rehearsal spaces and the shell of what is now The Walnut Room. The live music venue and restaurant has hosted local bands as well as established national acts, including Chris Isaak, Jewel, the Flobots, Churchill and The Fray.

A longtime resident of the RiNo neighborhood, Burr is a former president of the RiNo Neighborhood Association. He is also a supporter of YouthBiz and The Women’s Bean Project. He holds a degree in history from the University of San Francisco.

Leslie ODell

Leslie manages all aspects of The Walnut Room’s River North and South Broadway locations. A restaurant industry veteran, Odell strives to provide the best experience possible to guests of both venues.

Before being appointed director of operations for The Walnut Room, Leslie served as a general manager for the company. She previously was a bartender and manager at Main Street Grill in Edwards. She also has held management positions with Fado Irish Pub locations in both Denver and Atlanta. A native of Ohio, Leslie worked as a bartender and server for four years for Cameron Mitchell Restaurants (which includes Ocean Prime) in Columbus, OH. She began her restaurant career as a busser and hostess at the age of 15.

Leslie holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from The Ohio State University.

Randall Frazier

The Walnut Room

Randall serves a production manager; lead sound engineer and talent buyer for The Walnut Room Denver. In his position, Randall witnesses new and creative approaches to music in both a live and studio setting.

Randall started producing audio and mixing professionally over 15 years ago. Recordings featuring his production and/or mastering work have been featured in SPIN, Pitchfork, Downbeat Magazine, CMJ and on NPR. Randall joined The Walnut Room after operating his own music promotions firm, Massive Music, for more than a decade. He previously worked as a chemical analyst for the Denver food laboratory, Guarantech.

Randall has served previously as instructor on audio production at Colorado Free University,and also serves as an advisor for the audio engineering curriculum at Jefferson County Public Schools. He continues to do freelance production and mastering from his home studio.

When searching for talent for The Walnut Room, Randall focuses on artists who are bending the rules and defying their genre. Rather than having The Walnut Room become known for a particular style or sound, Randall strives to highlight bold musicians, unafraid of trying something new and interesting.

Jonah Munson

Jonah became the first executive chef of both The Walnut Room’s River North and South Broadway locations in April 2013, after serving as the pizzeria’s culinary manager and kitchen manager. In his new role, Jonah is in charge of menu creation and oversees the kitchens at both restaurants.

An industry veteran, Jonah owned the popular eatery, Jonah’s on Johnston Bistro and Bakery in Forsyth, GA for eight years; serving as the restaurant’s head chef and head baker. Before joining The Walnut Room, Jonah worked as the bakery manager for Marczyk’s Fine Food in Denver.

Though he studied aviation maintenance, Jonah had been baking since college and eventually decided to turn his passion into a profession. An Atlanta native, Jonah finds inspiration in satisfying his customers and serving food that looks great and tastes fabulous.
